Journal 4b

In class 6 sentence story.
Janet sat on the porch wishing that everything could’ve stayed the same: John hadn’t gone to war, that Melissa had stayed home for college, that her husband was still here. Now the only thing she could hear in her house was herself, not football games going on in the living room, or the loud music that Melissa would play all day long. She picked up the phone and called her daughter, who even though she was away at school loved to hear from her mom, but got no answer; instead she went inside and opened the boxes of pictures that she stored for years and took them outside to create a scrapbook. The scrapbook she wanted to make would be full of pictures of from her daughter of when she was a baby until her high school graduation day, and pictures of her and her husband since the first day they dated, until he left for the war; this would keep her mind occupied and not worrying. She sat on the porch working from midday, to sundown each day that fall, to help her cope with the feeling of lose that invaded her senses, and threatened to make her cry at any moment. Then one night, as she was putting away the finally finished scrapbook, she got the call that made her breakdown in tears, John had died in an intense battle, and Melissa was already on the first flight home.
