Journal 6: Direct Dialogue

Don’t pick on me, don’t pick on me, Alice thought as she sat in her math class. Her bright blue eyes had been dozing off with her blonde long hair covering her face so, that hopefully Mr. Stevens didn’t notice that she didn’t do the problem that he assigned for a “Do Now.” She noticed about Mr. Stevens that he always called on her in class, but she never knew why.
“Alice, would you like to solve this problem for us?” Mr. Stevens asked with a smirk on his face.

“Actually I didn’t have enough time to finish it,” she lied so, she didn’t have to admit that she really didn’t even try to do the problem.

“We’ll finish it now then… John how did you solve the ‘Do Now?’” he said moving on from Alice. You could tell that he looked disappointed in her for not knowing the answer since they had been going over this topic for a week now. At the end of class Mr. Stevens called her over.

“Are you having trouble with the material we are going over in class?” he asked her, looking at her long hair, golden earrings and then back to her blue eyes.

“Umm, sort of. I was just a little distracted today,” she answered.

“Oh okay, well come to me today in my office around 3 so that we can go over everything and make sure you’re good with the topic,” he replied, with one eyebrow raising upwards and looking at her with a strange glare that she didn’t understand.

“I don’t think that’s necessary Mr. Stevens, I’ll get it eventually, don’t worry,” Alice said with a smile.

“Okay, but I strongly require that you come to me for some extra tutoring today,” Mr. Stevens said.

“Uhh, maybe I might stop by, I’m not sure yet. Well I have to go to my next class, see you later!” he said and walked out of the room quickly with her black high heels leaving loud traces of her steps, not even waiting for him to reply.

Later that day she realized that she had nothing to do. Should I go to see Mr. Stevens? I don’t know if I should go, maybe I can get the material on my own because he is sort of strange but it is kind of hard if I really think about it. Well who cares, let me just go and get this out of the way, she thought to herself and then headed downstairs to Mr. Stevens office.

“Hey Mr. Stevens, I decided to come to get some help,” Alice said as she arrived at his office door.

“That was smart of you, good choice,” he said, grinning.

“Yeah I guess where you want to start?” she asked, just wanting to get this over with.

“Let’s go over what we did in class,” as he said that, he was pulling a chair up to sit beside her. She noticed that he put his seat pretty close to her, closer then she would have liked. But she ignored it and kept on with the tutoring.

She noticed that during the tutoring time he was being really friendly with her.
When they were finished and she was putting her notebook and pencils back in her bag, he said, “You know something Alice, you are a very pretty girl,” he paused as if he regretting saying that and then said with a big and almost creepy looking smile “Come back whenever you like Alice, I always be here to help…”
